Responsible for
Providing customer service for mainframe computer products and services, and/or a defined group of customers or area.
 
Reports To
Senior Field Engineer/Team Leader.
 
Supervises
No supervisory responsibilities.
 
Main Activities
  • Carrying out on-site service and problem-solving for computer systems and peripherals.
  • Testing and installing new systems.
  • Answering emergency calls for assistance in rectifying systems malfunctions.
  •  
    Key Skills
  • Basic skills in computer engineering and a developed knowledge of key products.
  • Basic problem analysis and fault rectification skills.
  • Ability to conserve and manage time on the job.
  •  
    Internal Contacts
    Sales and Marketing staff, Systems and Software Development staff.
     
    External Contacts
    Customers at the operational level.
     
    Typical Experience
    At least 1 to 3 years practical experience in customer service with basic technical training and product servicing experience.
     
    Other Comments
    The role must work closely with customers to resolve immediate technical problems. This position covers hardware maintenance of mainframe computer installations. Alternative Title: Associate Field (Customer) Engineer.
