Responsible for
Developing custom programs to extend the function of the web site. Integrating internal business systems with a browser based interface for customers to interact directly with the company's systems. |

Reports To
Web Project Manager, Web Programming/Architecture Team Leader. |

Supervises
No supervisory responsibilities. |
| |
Main Activities
Working with Web Architect and Graphic Designers to develop Web Page layout and its dynamic requirements.
Programming front end for manipulation on the Internet/Intranet through client browser software.
Programming front end access of database to present information as required (interactive shopping page, graphic library etc).
Programming for inward data input and interpretation e.g. for Internet users joining site, purchasers placing orders in a shopping cart, payment and delivery systems.
Integrating the program with relevant security tools such as certificates on the client side and firewalls on the server side.
Writing accurate and reliable programs, catering for the wide variety of different end-user technologies.

Key Skills
A sound understanding of the 3 tier programming system (Client to Server to Database).
Understanding of relevant programming technologies, including: C++, Perl, Active Server Page (Direct X), Java.
Knowledge of at least 1 RDBMS such as Oracle, mSQL, DB2 or Sybase.

Typical Experience
