Responsible for
Ensuring all operations of the organisation are conducted within the limits prescribed by law and that the organisation's rights are fully protected through the provision of legal counsel and guidance. |

Supervises
Corporate Counsel, Lawyers and legal assistants. |

Main Activities
Managing the provision of a full spectrum of legal and compliance issues to support corporate level transactions and the operations of business units.
Maintaining and managing relationships with external legal advisers that support efficient and effective provision of legal services to the organisation and its business units.
Developing and managing training and compliance programs to promote understanding of the organisation's legal rights and obligations and a culture of compliance.
Managing and resolving major disputes with minimum impact to business either through mediation or litigation.
Leading and managing the performance and development of the lawyers in the legal team.
Working closely with senior managers on significant corporate initiatives.
Managing legal spending with external firms exceeding $20million/year.

Typical Experience
At least 15 years legal practice equivalent to a senior partner/practice group head in a medium/major law firm, coupled with admission as a solicitor and unrestricted practicing certificate. |
